Due to the overwhelming support of the Gate District East Neighbors, the National Night Out event was a huge success (even with the respective competition of watching the Cardinals fight for the division title or attend the National Night Out). Many new faces as well as old faces where in attendance.
For the past several years, the Gate District East Association has voted to have the National Night Out celebration on the first Tuesday in October instead of the first Tuesday in August due to the almost unbearable heat of the St. Louis summers. After reviewing the past attendances of the previous years, I can say this was a good decision. The weather for this years' event was a calm pleasant 70's, which couldn't have been better.
As with planning this event every year, the Gate District East Association tries to utilize our community resources when at all possible. Well..... mission accomplished. Many thanks goes out to Hodgens Elementary School for providing the tables and chairs, Tom Johns Deli for providing the food, Willem and Co. for providing music and the collective effort of the Gate District East Board members for the logistics and all the miscellaneous other tasks that was required.
